Ever wondered why we go about living our lives as we do, in spite of being a part of a society where its believed we all have a destiny and that it is all written??
We consult astrologists, pundits, numerologists, u name it. If its all just written, why not just let it be? That brings to the fore one of the core beliefs of mankind. HOPE. You know the last bus leaves at 10. u reach the stop at 10.30. Why? You know u did not study a word for the exam last night and dutifully finished the latest season of that american sitcom. But u still have the guts to go to the exam hall next day. You know that cute girl is way out of ur league, but does that stop u from liking her? U very well know u didnt get any chocolates, but does that stop u from looking for it in the fridge? The answer is no. U are just hopeful.
I think as humans, we are programmed to be so. And that is the way it should be. All the discoveries that have ever been made-fire, wheel, electricity, bulb-imagine what if the people weren't hopeful they could find something. What if Marco Polo or Christopher Columbus were hopeless people. They would have never set out. Imagine the world we would be in today.
As far as being hopeful about our destinies is concerned, we need to be hopeful in that case too. Now there was too much evidence for me to not believe in destiny and the fact that God had written something for me. But I also wanted to be hopeful. I wanted things to go my way without being disrespectful to God's intentions. I have always had this dilemma in my mind. But then one day I got a message. A forwarded one.(I tell u, forwarded messages and stuff written on rear side of trucks offer great food for thought sometimes). What if God wrote just 3 words in my destiny-"As you wish". I liked the concept. Makes things convenient.
So if u think u have no hope left, or u are the unluckiest person on planet earth.I suggest u think again.
